# Collecting EU Taxonomy Data

## Overview

The [EU Taxonomy](https://support.lucanet.cloud/en/documentation/glossary.md#eu-taxonomy) is a classification system established by the European Union to define which economic activities can be considered environmentally sustainable.

In the **EU Taxonomy** functional area, users can:

- Create **business activities**, such as using solar energy panels, and assess if these business activities are **eligible** for the EU Taxonomy (see [Creating a Business Activity and Performing the Eligibility Assessment](https://support.lucanet.cloud/en/documentation/esg-reporting/collect-data-esgrep/collect-eut-data/create-ba-perform-eligibility.md)).
- Perform the **alignment assessment**, i.e.:

 - Perform the **minimum safeguards assessment** (see [Performing Minimum Safeguards Assessment](https://support.lucanet.cloud/en/documentation/esg-reporting/collect-data-esgrep/collect-eut-data/minimum-safeguards.md)) for a reporting entity.
 - Cover the SCC and DNSH questionnaires for every business activity (see [Performing Alignment Assessment](https://support.lucanet.cloud/en/documentation/esg-reporting/collect-data-esgrep/collect-eut-data/alignment-assessment.md)).
- Provide an oversight of their reporting entity's financial status (see [Collecting Financial Data](https://support.lucanet.cloud/en/documentation/esg-reporting/collect-data-esgrep/collect-eut-data/collect-financial-data.md))
- **Export** the aggregated EU Taxonomy data in standardized Excel format for regulatory compliance and integration with Lucanet Disclosure Management (see [Exporting Data](https://support.lucanet.cloud/en/documentation/esg-reporting/export-data-esgrep.md)).

## Prerequisites for Collecting EU Taxonomy Data

To be able to start with the data collection for the EU Taxonomy report, you first need to complete the setup of the questionnaire builder (needs to be done by an **ESG Administrator**, see also [Configuring the ESRS or VSME Questionnaire](https://support.lucanet.cloud/en/documentation/esg-reporting/questionnaire-builder-esgrep.md)). Otherwise, you cannot access your report in the **Reports and Activities** workspace.
