# Creating and Configuring Transformation Channels

## Overview

**Transformation channels** are specialized channels in Lucanet Banking & Cash Management (BCM) that convert data between different formats — without manual intervention and without external systems. Unlike [communication channels](https://support.lucanet.com/en/documentation/banking-and-cash-management/channels/communication-channels.md), which transfer data, transformation channels process data within BCM and convert the data into the desired target format.

Transformation channels start via [jobs](https://support.lucanet.com/en/documentation/banking-and-cash-management/create-and-configure-orders.md) and work automatically. In complex processing chains, a transformation channel first transforms incoming data; a communication channel then transmits the data to its destination. Depending on the configuration, you can also trigger a transformation manually by uploading a file via the signature folder.

## Navigation

The **Transformation channels** workspace can be found under **Banking & Cash Management | Channels | All channels | Transformation channels** and is displayed as follows, for example:

## Creating Transformation Channels

To create a transformation channel:

1. Navigate to **Channels | All channels | Transformation channels**.

2. Click the **Plus** icon in the upper left corner and select the desired channel type in the drop-down list.

    > **Note:** Which channel types you see in the drop-down list depends on your license.

3. Configure the channel according to your requirements.

## Available Transformation Channels

Transformation channels can be divided into three main categories. The following table provides an overview of the categories and their channel types:

| Category | Description |
|---------|---------|
| **Cash** | Cash transformation channels process and convert account statements and account information. The channels convert account statement formats, consolidate several statements, anonymize sensitive data, and split or enrich account information.<br><br>Available channel types:<br>- **Anonymize accounting transactions**<br>- **Enrich camt.053 batch posting with camt.054 details**<br>- **Consolidate camt.053 with camt.054 (C13415)**<br>- **Camt.053 to MT940 conversion**<br>- **Camt.053 transformation (C13402)**<br>- **Consolidate accounting transactions**<br>- **Consolidation of MT940 files**<br>- **Account statement to camt.053 conversion**<br>- **Account statement to CSV conversion**<br>- **Split account information (camt.052/camt.053/camt.054)**<br>- **Split account information (MT940/MT942)**<br>- **Pain.002 to camt.054 conversion (C13298)** |
| **Other** | Other transformation channels provide general file transformation and processing functions that are not tied to a specific data type. In practice, you usually use the splitting of compound XML files for payment files and the creation of ZIP containers for account information.<br><br>Available channel types:<br>- **Creation of ZIP container**<br>- **Split compound XML files** |
| **Payments** | Payment transformation channels convert payment files between different formats and standards — in particular for the integration with back-end systems and the adaptation to specific bank requirements. The JSON conversions serve the communication with the API.<br><br>Available channel types:<br>- **Excel to SEPA conversion**<br>- **CSV to SEPA CT conversion**<br>- **CSV to SEPA DD conversion**<br>- **JSON to SEPA CT conversion**<br>- **JSON to SEPA DD conversion**<br>- **SEPA credit transfer to instant SEPA credit transfer conversion**<br>- **SEPA DK version conversion**<br>- **SEPA DK batch posting conversion**<br>- **Split SEPA XML container** |
